#NORTON UTILITIES PREMIUM POP UP SOFTWARE#
I also regularly got pop ups telling me I needed to pay more to have additional protection so I'm not sure what the software was actually doing apart from scanning. The Norton Security Toolbar not only adds a toolbar to your browser, but also alters pages to show whether search results are “safe” or not. Now I've cancelled I'm getting 2 emails per week telling me I need to renew. While on my computer I had to set it to limited as it chewed through 1 gig of internet every five minutes otherwise. Also why is the renewal substantially higher than what I could purchase it for as a new customer? Read more maybe wealthy people or business owners don't care but I haven't budgeted for a random $200 to go missing. No one likes a surprise $200 bill deducted from their account. Online they only charge $109 for 5 devices. I just had an auto renewal for about $200 for five devices. If it was another $60 for another year I'd be happy to pay and probably would have ignored and accepted. I need up only using 2 and it blocked so many things on my phone I ended up just leaving it on the laptop only. I paid about $60 to purchase Norton for three devices for some reason they have me 5 devices. I can't trust/go with anyone that unscrupulous. But when someone has a "commit to what you DON'T agree to/TRUST US to then undo it". I expect this from small/dodgy companies. It is the most aggressive/unprofessional marketing I have ever seen. I am AMAZED that govt/fair trading allow it. But they make it SO HARD/ambiguous/don't know if it WILL renew.Īnd if you remove the auto renew (after spending FOREVER finding it) you are then bombarded with e mails/popups reminding about renewal. Now, at this stage, they do (allow undo AFTER paid). What the? So you buy a product, and the seller says "give us billing details, commit to paying FOUR TIMES AS MUCH (auto renew in future) but trust us we will allow you to undo that LATER. Read more Now in that chat, they say "is ok, just agree to auto renew, and we can undo later." I have just been on their chat for the LAST HOUR because the only renewal option is "auto renew for 3 years". I am one of those people who often stays with a product even though some better deals around, as the hassle of "changeover/reload/compatible/change passwords/set up" is best left as is.īut Norton's business practice is a disgrace. I hardly ever write reviews unless REALLY good or REALLY bad. I would suggest if you really enjoy pop ups when you're trying watch a movie, or play a game, or do work, or study, you could just not pay Norton and pick up some malware for free. I live in Australia! Just one more frustration to add to the mountain of irritants. Not to mention the price keeps going up, and yet it ONLY PROTECTS 3 DEVICES! In 2022!!!! The average household has upwards of 10-15 devices in 2022, do you really expect me to pay a thousand dollars a year to protect them all?Įven the pop up I get now every day telling me my subscription is going to expire (they turn auto-renewal on again every year after you turn it off and then just debit your credit card) trying to coerce me to stay since I turned off auto-renewal, offering a barely reduced price, has the caveat at the bottom of the ad that the offer is only valid in the US. It's not your concern what I do with my computers Norton, your only job is to protect them. Read more itself off, because apparently Norton doesn't support torrenting (which CAN be used for legal file sharing, thanks Norton). Then when you may actually need a VPN it turns. I turn the VPN off and 5 seconds later it's back on. The VPN keeps turning itself on so when I try to use google I end up with some strange country's google search results in languages I can't read. Pop up after pop up after pop up telling me what its doing or aggressively advertising other norton products. I honestly don't care how well it protects my computers. I've been using Norton for over ten years, and it's steadily gotten more aggressively in your face over the last few.
